Plane-to-Pool Ready

What to pack when you refuse to check a bag but won't compromise on a poolside entrance.

The trick isn't packing light — it's packing right. A good linen shirt doesn't wrinkle, it *relaxes*. Totême's oversized summer shirt in natural linen is the kind of piece you wear on the plane with jeans, then again over a swimsuit three days later. Same goes for their wide summer trousers: drawstring waist, pressed crease, the exact amount of structure to look like you tried without actually trying. Thom Browne's garment-dyed linen shirts come in three colorways, each with that signature dobby-woven 4-bar at the sleeve. They're pre-softened, which means they survive a carry-on and still look intentional at dinner. Pair one with Totême's slouch waist dress if you're the type who likes options — the curved panel construction gives it shape without effort, and the mid-weight linen blend doesn't cling in humidity. The monogram swimsuit (available in melon-ecru or plain ecru) is made from recycled polyamide with four-way stretch, which is a polite way of saying it fits and stays put. Add the woven sun hat for maximum effect, or the summer parachute jacket if your destination involves an actual breeze. Whisper-light, water-repellent, concealed snaps. The question isn't whether you need all of this. It's whether you're willing to show up in last year's swimsuit when you could show up in this one.
